One of the best investments you can make toward your career is a professionally written CV. First impressions last, so give it your best. The job market is competitive, so you need a resume that:
- Meets current industry standards
- Is easily scanned by recruiters
- Works within electronic selection systems
- Is targeted and sells you well
One of the most common forms of CV is the chronological format, where employment history is listed in date order. This isn’t always the best fit for all, particularly older people in the workforce, or those wanting to change career. A skills based CV can be a better fit and this is why it is important to ensure your CV is not a standardised template and is personalised to the industry you are in, or wanting to break into.
At Goal Digger, we ensure your resume is a reflection of you to optimise your chances landing an interview. If you are local, it is great to meet with you to really understand your CV purpose and where you would like to be. If not however, we work via Skype, FaceTime, email and phone too. We have clients from all over the world!
One thing we don’t believe in here at GD HQ is template CV’s. You shouldn’t either! Your CV needs to be as unique as you are and needs to be specialised for the industry or role you are going for.
You can rest assured knowing that you be well informed of the progress of your CV write, however we are in touch. You will have plenty of opportunity to review and provide feedback on the draft document, before it is prepped for use.
One major pitfall when putting forward a job application is using a standardised cover letter. From a recruiter’s point of view, it is immediately noticeable if you haven’t made the effort to prepare one specifically for the company and role you are applying for. If you want them to invest time in you, invest some of your own time and effort first!
At Goal Digger, we can write a cover letter to accompany your CV and application which fits with the package you are putting forward. Again, let’s think about those first impressions and how that impacts your chances of moving closer toward securing an interview.
Once you land the interview, don’t forget to consider interview training, practice makes perfect.
After 5 years of being a stay at home mum my CV was looking as tired as I was. I sought out the expertise of Tammy-Lee at Goal Digger. Tammy-Lee did an amazing job, my CV was professional and relevant to the employment I was seeking. I cannot recommend Goal Digger services highly enough.Tina
I was in the NZ Navy from the age of 17-25, so when the time came to put together my first CV, I contacted Tammy-Lee. She tailors your CV to not only include your professional qualities but adds a very personal touch also.
She’s my go to every time I need a freshly updated CV. I highly recommend her!
